Also, this probably happens because GI is too well-known. Genshin Impact case comes from the chinese government, they are the ones who tell the developers to censor the game.
I was talking specifically about western companies changing asian stuff and "westernizing" asian entertainment to destroy the product. There's also, y'know, the CCP, but that's a bit too off-topic for this discussion. Genshin Impact's CN version has censored costumes that are fully uncensored in the US, and the studio responsible for the game have taken down mods that exaggerate proportions (such as hips and buttocks) on multiple occasions. Not sure about Koreans, but the Chinese are heavily censorious when it comes to stuff like nudity (light or heavy, sexual or non-sexual).
Not only japanese, but chinese and korean entertainment business is booming and profiting a lot while western entertainment is not what it used to be.
